Fund Information

The O’Grady-Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that seeks to perpetuate the goals, aspirations and ideals that characterize two tragically slain police officers. To that end, the fund seeks to support and encourage the educational endeavors and achievements of students seeking careers in law enforcement by awarding scholarship grants. Currently the 2024 application submission timeframe has expired but we would like to remind students that we are accepting 2025 applications until April 15th, 2025, from residents of Rockland County, New York, who are High School Students interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Scholarship Information

The O’Grady-Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. seeks to perpetuate the goals, aspirations and ideals that characterize two tragically slain police officers. To that end, the fund seeks to support and encourage the educational endeavors and achievements of students seeking careers in law enforcement by awarding scholarship grants. Scholarships shall be awarded to Rockland County residents in concordance with the following criteria and guidelines:

  • Scholarships shall be awarded to graduating high school seniors and/or matriculated undergraduate students pursuing degrees directly related to advancing a career in law enforcement.
  • Scholarships shall be awarded without regard to age, sex, race or national origin.
  • The fund committee will determine scholarship amounts each year, based upon financial ability of the fund and the number of qualified applicants.
  • Scholarship applications as approved and provided by the committee, shall be distributed to all public, parochial and private high schools in January of each year.
  • The fund committee must receive scholarship applications no later than the 15th of April of each year. No application will be accepted for consideration for the current year if received after that date.
  • Scholarship winners will be announced in May of each year in time for Spring Graduation and Awards Ceremonies.
  • Scholarship awards shall be granted in regard to the following considerations:
    1. Demonstrated commitment to pursuing a law enforcement career.
    2. Acceptance to an accredited college or university.
    3. Timely submission of application and recommendations.
    4. Demonstrated achievement in previous academic pursuits.
    5. Demonstrated achievement in sports, clubs and service.
    6. Demonstrated financial need; and
    7. Candidate shall be of good moral character.

2024 Annual Scholarship Breakfast

On June 1st, 2024 at 10:00am we held our annual Scholarship breakfast which was located at the Nyack Seaport. Tickets were $30.00 per person, of which the proceeds went to help fund the scholarship program. Those that could not attend the event but wanted to make a donation, were able to use the form below to make a tax deductible contribution.

2023 Annual Memorial Service

On October 20th, 2023 at 4:00pm we held our annual memorial service for Sgt. O'Grady, Officer Brown and Security Guard Paige at the memorial site located on Mountainview Ave & Route 59 in Nyack, NY. We also unveiled a new street sign honoring Officer Brown & Sgt. O'Grady on Lydecker St. next to the Nyack Village Hall.
